Living Room Renovation

The homeowners before me had a great style, it just wasn't my style.  As you can see from some earlier posts I've been slowly renovating my 1955 house and now I'll be finally posting some of the other room renovations (besides just the bathroom).  So here's   my before and after for the Living Room

Before

And now...

So let's backup and dissect them a little better.  To start my living room is small, very small. The first floor of the house is only 800 square feet in total (thank goodness I have a finished basement!)  I never planned to have so much in this room, especially because I have an Entertainment Room in the basement, but it just sort of evolved to this.  It's definitely "cozy" but I'm very pleased with it. And also key - made of mostly reused items!

The couch is a full size couch that was intended for the Entertainment Room, but sadly couldn't fit down the stairs (and it was a few years old from my apartment, so couldn't return it).  So I was left to squeeze it in the Living Room.  The chair in the corner and the TV stand where about to be put up for sale by my mom when she moved, but thankfully she let me take those free of charge.  I never planned on the blue curtains in here, they were reused from my apartment, but after 2.5 years they're clearly staying.  The rug was also free from someone moving, my end tables, were free from my grandmother's house after she passed.

You'll notice that I replaced all the woodwork in the house and painted it white.  I love cool colored walls and I think white woodwork gives it a great crisp clean line with the gray color.
