Gold Cuff Earrings

I'm pretty obsessed with cuff earrings and just picked up this new pair from H&M.  Probably not appropriate for work at a law firm, but still rocking them

The Color Run!!!

I've been looking forward to The Color Run for a few months now and it did not disappoint!  It happened Friday night at Milwaukee's Miller Park Stadium.  There was tailgating, dancing, and games going on before the race started at night.  Just a great fun loving atmosphere were everybody had the same goal - to have fun and get full of color.

Smoke & Jackal "No Tell"

Smoke & Jackal is Kings of Leon bassist Jared Followill's new side project with Mona's Nick Brown.  It's got a real cool relaxing vibe to it and I can't wait to hear the rest of the Ep which is out next month

My Favorite Charm Bracelet

Well it's my only charm bracelet, but you get what I'm saying

The main bracelet came from an unofficial "aunt" who took a trip to Australia when I was a kiddo. She brought me back this and a Koala backpack which I tragically misplaced.

My Sewing charm from my days as I Lady Pioneer (aka girl scouts for Lutherans)

What appears to be a rodent (it was an Australian charm?) and a dolphin from a trip to Florida

My babysitting charm from Lady Pioneers and a Platypus I believe (Australian again)

There's also a cowboy hat (Australia), my main Lady Pioneer badge, and pineapple

And a Dove which I received for doing something but can't remember and a train car

There are a few more on there and sadly many I've lost of the years.  I love this bracelet though for all the memories it brings me and the randomness that my aunt provided me with all the Australian reference I don't get :)

August 21st - Cool

My "cool" new shoes I picked up from the Target clearance section this week for $10 (which is a little pricey for the clearance section in my opinion, but they were too cute to pass up)

Hair Bun

I chopped my hair off last summer and it's been taking what seems like forever to grow it back out. Now I'm finally getting it into a bun, my favorite hairstyle for work.

I'm also changing the color from bright red to blond, so right now I have many, many shades of color in my hair as I grow some of it out.  It's kind of fun looking though :)

Arrows

Just a few of the arrows I passed on the way into work this morning

Wisconsin State Fair

The Wisconsin State Fair wrapped this weekend and it was another stomach ache waiting to happen (it's really all about the food of course)

Bathroom Renovation - Day 19

So close to the end of the renovation, yet not quite there.  It's a good thing my family works in construction and when I was told July 4th as an end date, I knew "construction" speak and that it was no way possible.  But anyways, here's what we've been getting done lately.

I didn't realize when I ordered the new counter top that my old hardware would not fit

So back to my favorite place ever...the hardware stores

August 8th - Glasses

I've been pretty blind since I was born, when I first started to walk I was running into walls and other big objects so my parents took me to the doctor.  It turned out I was borderline legally blind.  I was farsighted, had a astigmatism, and was cross eyed.  Once they got me in glasses the prescription was so strong that eventually my crossed eye's corrected themselves naturally and over time my astigmatism has actually improved (which isn't common but can happen).  When I was 14 a contact lens company finally was able to make my prescription strength and since then I've never looked back and this past Spring a company started making them in disposable even!

But I'll never get rid of these things, I still have to wear them part of each day and they are the one thing that I make sure to have with me when ever I travel (constant paranoia that I won't be able to see in unfamiliar territory)

A Sad Day in Oak Creek

There's not a lot I can say about what happened yesterday in Oak Creek, Wisconsin.  It's my hometown and I live just over one mile away from the shooting.  I was working on my bathroom renovation when I heard sirens go wailing by the house and sadly I didn't think much more about it.

Oak Creek is a safe and peaceful community, I'm in shock that such a disgusting act of violence not only happened, but happened in my hometown.

Please pray for the victims and their families.

August 3rd - Coin

This coin has a little story behind it.  It is a Japanese 5 Yen Coin that was given to me by a missionary.  These coins are normally given to shrines or put in wallets before any other money because they represent good luck and karma.  I received this coin in the 4th grade when at my Lutheran grade school we would write to missionaries each month on their birthdays.  It was a way to let them know that someone was thinking of them and all the hard work they do and it was deeply appreciated.  Many wrote back, but this was by far the most memorable one (or maybe I was so young and this one sent me a gift, I was an impressionable little tyke).  The missionary I wrote was named Jennifer and she was newly married working in Tokyo.  She wrote back a lovely letter and included an awesome picture, which surely influenced my fashion sense (crimped hair, big bangs, teal blue puffy dress - it was a picture of her from the late 80s).

She also included this coin.  I wear it not because of it's history of luck, but because it reminds me to have faith in the unknown, not an easy thing to do in today's world but a strong virtue to have.  Not everything in life can be explained and sometimes you have to have faith that you will come out the other side of it.

August 2nd - One Lonely Nut

A story you ask? Let's see...

There once was One Lonely Nut who was oh so lonely by himself
