Stop 1: The Catacombs
This was my number one must see here and while I throughly enjoyed it, it ended up being a bit sad for me. While the front of the bones are stacked and organized in instricate patterns, behind them the bones are just tossed and scattered. It made me feel sad for the people who were brought here and scattered. I understand the reasons why it was done and it makes sense, it just makes you think...
Behind our guide Callaway - booked a group tour and noone else joined so we got a private tour |
It was very empty when we went |
Heart of Skulls |
This person was shot |
Stop 2: The Pantheon
The was gorgeous, but under renovation at the time. Still got it though.
The Pantheon |
View from the steps of the Pantheon with the Eiffel Tower in the background |
The catacombs beneath the Pantheon |
Voltaire |
I have no idea what this meant |
Posing in front of Notre Dame |
Stop 3 - The Love Lock Bridge
The Love Lock Bridge - just so breathtaking |
We plan on hitting up Notre Dame on Day 3 but walked around it while we were near it
Stop 4: Shakespeare and Company
The legendary bookstore was exactly as you imagine it. Didn't end up buying any books there (too heavy to carry around), but was so interesting to see.
Stop 5: Saint-Severin
This church was tucked in the middle of the streets, just north of Shakespeare and Company
I'm not sure what this next building was but big and pretty with a second bridge with locks on them.
Breezy Point Represent |
Stop 5: Musee D'Orsay
Musee D'Orsay is the museum that was converted from an old train station. No pictures are allowed but I snuck a few...
Stop 6: Champs-Elysees
The Christmas Market at the end of the Champs-Elysees opened up the first night we were there. It was so amazing, probably my favorite moment of the trip. It was a Wednesday night so there wasn't a crowd and the Christmas music was playing and the smell of the delicious food, plus just the general beauty of the area.
Every street seemed to have decorations up |
Gotta get the lighting right...
The Eiffel Tower could be seen from the side streets |
Stop 6: LaDuree
The legendary LaDuree on the Champs-Elysees - it was worth every penny and minute in line (which wasn't bad at all). We even went back a second time!
Stop 7: Arc de Triumph
We didn't make it up to the top as our feet were KILLING by this time, but beautiful nonetheless.
